About The Role
The Principal Event Data Analyst (AI & Advanced Analytics) plays a pivotal role in leading AI-driven investigations and analyses of workplace incidents and data events. This position requires a systematic, analytics-first approach to identify impacted data at scale through automation, machine learning, and advanced analytics techniques. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams including security, legal, privacy, and engineering to build and evolve an AI-enabled investigative data platform. Utilizing modern data lake architectures, distributed processing, and AI/ML pipelines, the analyst will accelerate insights and support decision-making processes.
This position is ideal for an experienced data professional passionate about leveraging AI and analytics to enhance cybersecurity and data protection efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 6+ years of equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of experience in advanced data analytics, data science, or AI-focused analytical roles
- 5+ years of experience developing, testing, and deploying production-grade Python code
- 3+ years of experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform
- 3+ years of experience with distributed data processing using PySpark and Databricks
- Proven experience working with data lake architectures and medallion schemas
- Strong expertise in SQL, data modeling, and data integration techniques
- Ability to transform unstructured data (documents, images, OCR content) into structured, model-ready datasets
Responsibilities
- Lead AI-assisted analysis of data events and incident investigations utilizing structured and unstructured data sources
- Design and implement automated pipelines for ingesting, normalizing, deduplicating, enriching, and classifying large-scale datasets
- Apply machine learning, entity resolution, and data fingerprinting techniques to identify impacted individuals and data elements
- Build and maintain production analytics solutions using Python, PySpark, and Databricks platforms
- Develop and deploy AI-driven workflows, including Generative AI use cases, to enhance investigative speed, accuracy, and scalability
- Ensure data security, integrity, and validation to uphold analytical standards and evidentiary requirements
- Collaborate with security, legal, and privacy teams to translate complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights
- Create dashboards, visualizations, and analytical summaries tailored for executive and technical stakeholders
- Operate effectively in time-sensitive environments while maintaining objectivity, confidentiality, and analytical rigor
- Contribute to the advancement of Optum’s AI and analytics capabilities within cybersecurity and data protection domains
