About the role

The Flushing YMCA is seeking a Dance Instructor to teach children and teens in a structured setting. The position focuses on fostering the enjoyment of dance and movement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a fun, positive, and safe experience for all participants.
  • Demonstrate strong service and hospitality with all constituents, including, but not limited to, program participants and parents/guardians.
  • Create an all-inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Teach progressive lessons and provide opportunities to demonstrate learned skills.
  • Encourage a lifetime participation in movement and physical activity.
  • Embody the YMCA Core Values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching dance to children/teens in a structured setting.
  • Knowledge of youth development stages.
  • Content expert in designated areas of dance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certifications.
  • Current Child Abuse Prevention certificate.
  • Must attend the YMCA Coaching 101 Training within ninety (90) days of hire.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Skills

  • Desired Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred, minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching dance to children/teens in a structured setting, knowledge of youth development stages, content expert in designated areas of dance, ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages, current First Aid/CPR certifications, current Child Abuse Prevention certificate, must attend the YMCA Coaching 101 Training within ninety (90) days of hire.
