Dance Instructor (Flushing YMCA)
About the role
The Flushing YMCA is seeking a Dance Instructor to teach children and teens in a structured setting. The position focuses on fostering the enjoyment of dance and movement.
Responsibilities
- Provide a fun, positive, and safe experience for all participants.
- Demonstrate strong service and hospitality with all constituents, including, but not limited to, program participants and parents/guardians.
- Create an all-inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Teach progressive lessons and provide opportunities to demonstrate learned skills.
- Encourage a lifetime participation in movement and physical activity.
- Embody the YMCA Core Values.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching dance to children/teens in a structured setting.
- Knowledge of youth development stages.
- Content expert in designated areas of dance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages.
- Current First Aid/CPR certifications.
- Current Child Abuse Prevention certificate.
- Must attend the YMCA Coaching 101 Training within ninety (90) days of hire.
Qualifications

Skills
- Desired Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts preferred, minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching dance to children/teens in a structured setting, knowledge of youth development stages, content expert in designated areas of dance, ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages, current First Aid/CPR certifications, current Child Abuse Prevention certificate, must attend the YMCA Coaching 101 Training within ninety (90) days of hire.
