Damage Prevention Specialist (JEMC- Gainesville , GA)

About the role

As an Underground Utility Locate Technician, you’ll be the first line of defense in preventing utility damages and ensuring safe excavation. Using advanced computer utility maps and specialized equipment, you'll locate underground infrastructure like cables and pipelines to keep our communities safe and connected. If you're a reliable problem-solver who enjoys working outdoors and values safety, this is the role for you!

This is a full-time position, Monday–Friday, with overtime and weekend availability, and must reside in the Gainesville, GA region.

Responsibilities

• Drive to job sites daily (50–200+ miles)
• Use mapping tools and locating equipment to detect underground utilities
• Mark utility locations with paint and flags
• Communicate findings clearly to contractors and excavation crews
• Respond to emergency call-outs per rotation schedule (if applicable)

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License (required)
• Ability to use a computer
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather
• Strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Utility locating or construction experience is a plus, but not required
• Must be able to work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements

• Walk up to 4–6 miles/day on uneven terrain
• Sit for extended periods while driving
• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Work outdoors in all seasons

Pay

Starting pay: $18.00/hour and up, based on experience, with automatic increases: +$0.50/hour after 60 days, and another +$0.50/hour after 180 days.
