Cytotechnologist - Cytology Laboratory

About the role

Full-time cytotechnologist position screening and reporting gynecological and non-gynecological cytology cases, with responsibilities including abnormal finding identification, quality control, student training, and participation in digital image analysis, FISH techniques, and tissue review. Serves on the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) team for onsite adequacy evaluation and provides technical support during staffing shortages.

Responsibilities

• Screen and report gynecological and non-gynecological cytology cases
• Identify and refer abnormal findings
• Perform quality control
• Assist in training students
• Participate in lab activities including digital image analysis, FISH techniques, and tissue review
• Serve on the Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) team for onsite adequacy evaluation
• Provide technical support during staffing shortages
• Contribute to quality assurance, continuous improvement, and special projects

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or an accredited program
• Certification as Cytologist (CT, ASCP) or Specialist in Cytology (SCT, ASCP)
• Experience with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing
• Strong communication skills, ability to prioritize, and adapt to changing work volumes
• Skills assessment test required
• Ongoing certification maintenance needed if obtained after specified dates

Pay

$35.45 to $53.15/hour

Schedule

Weekdays with rotating Sunday coverage

• 2-year tenure required before internal transfer eligibility
• No visa sponsorship or F-1 STEM OPT extension participation

• Location options include multiple campuses; international assignments are not available
