About the role
Get ready to put on your detective hat! Under general supervision, you'll prepare and stain specimens from various body sites, then dive into the microscope to hunt down cancer and other cellular abnormalities. You'll become a pro at spotting what's normal and what's not, issuing diagnostic reports on gynecological specimens with confidence and precision. Plus, you'll team up with clinicians at aspiration biopsy sites, expertly preparing smears and ensuring specimens are collected and processed like a champ. It's detailed, rewarding work that makes a real difference in patient care!
Qualifications
Education/Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree with successful completion in CAAHEP accredited program in cytotechnology
- OR fulfill CLIA88 requirements for cytotechnologist as stated in Federal Register 493.1483, if prior to 1992
Certifications/Licensures Required
- ASCP eligibility or certification in cytotechnology
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
- Ability to sit for long periods of time at a microscope
