About the role
The State of North Dakota is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst to join their Cyber Analysis and Response team. This role involves developing one of the world's most advanced Cyber Operations Centers, providing continuous monitoring, incident response, digital forensics, malware analysis, and threat hunting services.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the detection, triage, and investigation of security events.
- Serve as an incident handler to identify, investigate, mitigate, and respond to cybersecurity events and incidents impacting the network or endpoints.
- Document evidence collected, actions taken during the incident response process, and write incident reports for management, incident stakeholders, and to facilitate lessons learned.
- Participate in use case development, digital forensics, threat hunting, and malware analysis.
- Participate in tabletops, cyber ranges, and purple team exercises to improve skills, develop a cooperative mindset, and enhance information sharing within the team.
- Promote the continuous improvement of the capabilities of the Cyber Operations Center and advance the security posture of the State of North Dakota.
Requirements
- Proactive mindset, endless curiosity, and passion for continuous improvement in detection and response.
- Experience living anywhere in North Dakota or a border community (Moorhead, MN, East Grand Forks, ND, etc).
- Completion of an apprenticeship, a collegiate level cybersecurity certification program, or four (4) years of current and progressive work experience with computer system security activities.
- Additional formal education experience may be substituted for the professional work experience year requirement on a year for year basis.
- Security certifications from a qualified vendor, such as SANS, ISC2, ISACA, CompTIA or EC Council, may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
Qualifications
- Must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
