About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Cyber Policy Analyst to support cybersecurity and telecom policy initiatives for the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (CIO). This role focuses on shaping and implementing cyber policies that address emerging technologies, including 5G, telecommunications infrastructure, and secure data exchange across defense networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity policy and a working knowledge of telecom systems and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine cybersecurity policies related to 5G, telecom infrastructure, and secure communications.
  • Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to senior leadership on cyber risk, telecom resilience, and emerging threats.
  • Draft executive-level policy documents, memos, and briefings to support decision-making.
  • Ensure alignment with CIO priorities, federal mandates, and national security objectives.
  • Interpret and apply NIST 800-series publications (especially SP 800-171, 800-172) to telecom and cyber environments.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across federal agencies and industry to harmonize cyber and telecom policy efforts.
  • Support governance and compliance tracking for telecom-related cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Monitor developments in 5G, spectrum policy, and telecom supply chain risk management.
  • Contribute to policy frameworks that address secure data exchange, Zero Trust, and cross-domain solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 10 years in cybersecurity, information assurance, or telecom policy.
  • Strong understanding of federal cyber policy, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with NIST SP 800-171/800-172 and RMF.
  • Familiarity with 5G architecture, telecom protocols, and supply chain risk management.
  • Skilled in drafting executive-level policy documents and briefings.
  • Experience supporting high-level organizations, ideally within a CIO office.
  • Strong writing, analysis, and organizational skills.
  • Able to advise on cyber risks related to telecom infrastructure and emerging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Zero Trust, CMMC, and secure communications frameworks.
