About the role
The Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVE). We currently have an opening for a Compliance Specialist 1 in the New Entrant Audit Program (Regulatory Compliance Unit) of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. The CVE New Entrant Compliance Specialist 1 conducts safety audits of new commercial transportation carriers during their first 18 months of operations.
Responsibilities
- Conducts off-site and on-site safety audits and compliance reviews of regulated commercial transportation enterprises.
- Conducts commercial motor vehicle and driver safety inspections at designated state inspection locations.
- Audits commercial transportation carriers for accuracy and compliance with state and federal guidelines, regulations, and laws.
- Determines compliance with applicable state and/or federal rules and regulations.
- Coordinates investigations involving noncompliance in regulated commercial transportation operations and other related programs.
- Schedules reviews, conducts audits, and reports compliance findings to state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Performs investigations and/or audits according to established rules, regulations, and other statutes.
- Recommends carrier operational changes based on review, audit, or survey results.
- Reviews new rules and service site applications.
- Researches and analyzes state codes, federal regulations and industry manuals regarding forms, policies, and procedures.
- Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.

Requirements
- High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of job-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the commercial transportation industry.
- Experience in regulatory compliance and/or regulatory enforcement.
