About the Role

The Cardiovascular Sonographer performs a variety of advanced ultrasound imaging procedures to assist in diagnosing and monitoring a wide range of medical conditions. This role requires technical expertise in operating ultrasound equipment, patient care skills, and the ability to provide accurate and high-quality diagnostic images. A strong commitment to patient care and collaborative communication with patients and healthcare professionals is essential to provide optimal care.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic images.
  • Recognize technical abnormalities and adjust protocols as needed.
  • Ensure safe and proper machine operation, including emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of a school of Sonography with completed required clinical hours OR received on-the-job training by a Preceptor registered in Cardiac ultrasound.
  • Licensure: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
  • Certification: ARDMS (RVT) or CCI (RVS) or ARRT (RVS) AND ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) or registry eligible (must obtain registry within 6 months of eligibility); Basic Life Support (BLS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in producing diagnostic images proficiently with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety procedures.
  • Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
