What you will be doing
- Receive, review and process import documentation from overseas agents/customers.
- Knowledge of various transportation modes including air freight, LCL, FCL as well as knowledge of domestic trucking and rail movements.
- Understand agent fees and pricing per client in order to process invoices accurately.
- Follow company protocol for billing a file.
- Prepare customs entries.
- Arrange freight release with steamship lines and confirm cargo availability.
- Respond in a timely manner to customer requests on shipment status by phone or email.
- Open import and manage files
- Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations.
- Advise your supervisor or manager of any transaction problems and irregularities.
- Perform any other related tasks as required.
- Effectively classify dutiable import and export shipments to ensure compliance with all government agency rules.
- Process shipments through various online portals for submission to FDA and US Customs to obtain proper clearance.
- Communicate with origin and destination locations regarding shipment status and special handling and delivery processes.
- Examine online commercial invoices and other documents, to determine the correct harmonized tariff codes for each commodity to ensure correct classification.

Salary: $45,000 - $75,000
