About the role

The Customer Support Specialist plays a crucial role in generating revenue for Materion's Performance Materials business unit by managing customer orders, inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This position works closely with Key Account Managers, Account Management, and other PM team members to foster customer relationships and drive growth.

Responsibilities

  • Handle order management activities, including processing orders and inquiries from current and prospective customers.
  • Communicate with customers via phone, email, and M Power to address their needs and concerns.
  • Administer order entry processes, including handling invoices, certifications, and acknowledgments.
  • Maintain and verify customer records using automated systems.
  • Facilitate customer meetings and assist in creating open order reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with Key Account Managers, Account Management, and Manufacturing Site Operations, Planning, Shipping & Quality personnel to ensure timely communication with customers.
  • Resolve customer issues related to returned goods and credits.
  • Prepare and review customer contracts, adhering to flow-down requirements.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities and assist in other departmental activities as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or some college preferred, with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in customer support, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with advanced alloy systems and engineered materials solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to participate in ongoing education and training.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and use Materion's SAP, CRM, and enterprise software tools.

Qualifications

  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology.
  • Pass the export license approval process.

Pay

Schedule

Hybrid schedule with remote work on Mondays and Fridays, and in-office work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Materion's corporate headquarters in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
