Customer Service Trainee

About the role

A structured six-month training program designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed to provide service and support to new and existing insurance clients. Upon successful completion of the program and attainment of the required insurance license, the trainee may transition into a Customer Service Representative role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Client Service & Insurance Operations (75-80%)
    • Under the guidance of a trainer, learn to support sales initiatives and long-term business objectives that drive profitability, growth, and operational effectiveness.
    • Respond to inquiries from clients, insurance carriers, underwriters, and third parties.
    • Advise clients on insurance coverage and basic risk management considerations.
    • Process policy changes, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations.
    • Assist clients with claims and billing inquiries.
    • Develop and maintain professional relationships with insurance companies and underwriting partners.
  • Quoting & Cross-Selling (10-15%)
    • Learn to provide quotes for existing lines of business and replacement coverage options.
    • Identify opportunities to cross-sell additional insurance products and services.
    • Support client retention and account growth initiatives.
  • Compliance & Risk Management (0-5%)
    • Learn to identify and promptly report situations that may result in potential Errors & Omissions (E&O) exposure or Department of Insurance (DOI) complaints.
    • Escalate compliance-related concerns to management as appropriate.
  • Additional Duties (0-5%)
    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Licensing: Must obtain a Property & Casualty License within 30 days of completing the required state pre-licensing course. Training and license fee paid for by Home Services Insurance.

Pay

Pay Range: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
