About the role
This position is responsible for in-store inventory control, displays, and signage, as well as assisting customers in locating items. The role involves maintaining store and office areas according to OSHA regulations for a proper work environment. You will interact significantly with staff from Inside Sales, Purchasing, and Vendors. This is a pivotal role critical to overall Sales goals, profitability, and maintaining partnerships between customers and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service in a courteous and friendly manner: respond to customer inquiries, answer phone calls, and help customers locate items.
- Pull, tag, and prepare in-store inventory for delivery on a per-order basis.
- Monitor stock and replenish shelves; focus on product resets while maintaining safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Follow established corporate procedures when receiving, checking, and stocking in-store inventory.
- Execute all in-store price changes as directed by the Store Manager and Purchasing Manager.
- Manage hardware for delivery support and advise the hardware purchaser of stock requirements.
- Handle signage maintenance and displays to enhance sales.
- Monitor cycle counts and coordinate with the Store Manager and Purchasing Manager.
- Maintain a sales floor presence to secure and protect company property at all times.
- Follow established security procedures.
- Maintain store and office areas in accordance with OSHA regulations:
- Mop and scrub floors on a regular basis.
- Empty all wastebaskets and dispose of designated materials as scheduled.
- Vacuum carpets regularly; clean carpets as needed.
- Clean sales counters.
- Advise management of the need for repair or replacement of structural materials or display systems.
- Use proper cleaning agents and materials.
- Maintain the inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Unload trucks using forklifts and pallet jacks; organize products into aisles and storage.
Requirements
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to speak and hear.
- Ability to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Manual dexterity.
- Strength: lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environment and Physical Working Conditions
- Work near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
- Moderate noise level.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
- Ability to read and write.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient math skills.
- Basic knowledge of the Spruce system.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to follow instructions provided in written or verbal form.
- Ability to deal with issues involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to operate custodial equipment.
- Knowledge and use of cleaning materials.
