Responsibilities
- Handle patient scheduling, appointments, and manage a multi-phone line system
- Gather and manage new patient data; keep track of all patient referrals
- Disseminate information to patients and act as a liaison between patients and physicians
- Send and log all reports sent to doctors
- Collect all payments and verify insurance coverage
- Collect, open, and distribute mail to proper areas/people
- Send benefits paperwork to billing companies
- Handle all scheduling and ensuing communication
- Answer phones, address questions from potential or current patients, and act as a patient liaison
- Coordinate evaluations, re-evaluations, appointment reminders, and cancellations
- Collect new patient intake information and track all clinic referrals
- Fax reports to physicians and keep a log of incoming reports
- Verify insurance, track insurance-covered visits, and collect copayments
- Check mail and track Explanation of Benefits sent from mail/fax to the billing company
- Communicate with the office manager and clinicians about scheduling and patient arrival
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED certificate)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Excellent communication and multitasking skills; detail-oriented
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, integrity, and empathy toward patients in pain
