About the role

Working out of our Chicago office, we are looking for our next Customer Service Representative. You will be responsible for ensuring the movement of freight across North America, or even across the globe, is coordinated and executed successfully according to our customers’ needs. Your work will support our extensive Operations team, and you will communicate thoroughly with other team members and Traffic Tech personnel. This position is a great opportunity to set foot within the extensive logistics field.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain strong customer and vendor relationships
  • Manage day-to-day transportation operations including but not limited to: load building, tracking, scheduling shipments, issue resolution, and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Provide weekly coaching in the form of 1-on-1s
  • Work with Director and Customer Success Manager to implement changes and efficiencies
  • Create and maintain customer SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Maintain effective and professional communication both internally and externally in a timely manner
  • Work alongside manager and Customer Success Manager to develop the team and best practices
  • Serve as an additional escalation point for team members and help coach problem-solving techniques
  • Become an expert on spot quoting opportunities
  • Provide continuous improvements and creative solutions
  • Assist with cost negotiation on shipments
  • Collaborate with both carrier and sales teams
  • Follow standard operating procedures
  • Ensure reporting data is accurate
  • Drive organic growth of accounts
  • Ensure after-hours and weekend shipments are set up for success and handle issues as they arise

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the logistics, LTL, and supply chain industry
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Problem-solving skills, detail-oriented, high level of multi-tasking ability
  • Professional phone and email mannerisms
  • Outgoing personality, high energy, flexible
  • Great attitude and desire to work hard
  • Team player mentality
  • Strong leadership skills and strategic thinking
  • Ability to be a coach and mentor to operations reps
  • LTL experience
  • Team Lead/Assistant Manager experience
  • 2 years of experience in Food/bev, retail, or CPG – working with previous startups is a plus
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience with carriers is a plus – ability to vet carriers and help sell consolidation efforts

Schedule

This is a full-time permanent position from Monday to Friday.
