General Summary
Serves General Summary Services customers through various teller transactions. Provides customer service to retain and grow customer relationships. Cross-sells products and services and identifies business opportunities for referrals to appropriate personnel.
Essential Functions/Major Duties
- Serves customers through various teller transactions including, cashing checks, processing deposits and accepting various payments.
- Sells treasurers’ checks, money orders, etc.
- Provides customer service to retain and grow customer relationships by acknowledging and greeting customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
- Responds to and follows through on customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Identifies customer products and service needs to enhance customer relationships while achieving the Bank’s financial goals by actively participating in all sales promotions.
- Identifies business opportunities and refers customers to appropriate personnel including Tioga State Investment Services, Commercial Loans, Mortgage Originators and Consumer Loans.
- Maintains an accurate cash drawer in accordance with balancing and cash handling standards.
- Produces accurate work documentation impacting other internal departments as well as external customers.
- Balances the vault and ATM machine(s).
Duties Supporting Essential Functions
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank consumer products and services.
- Maintains a knowledge of and adheres to all policies, procedures and regulations that govern the retail banking function.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable software, systems and equipment.
- Participates as necessary to ensure that the offices’ daily responsibilities are met.
- Safeguards supplies in a timely manner.
- Promotes a positive team environment by exhibiting the Banks Core Values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Job Specific Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English effectively; effective communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
- Proficient eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Proficient ten-key skills and data entry skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task.
- Ability to continually increase work speed while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to maintain use of discretion.
- Ability to operate various office machines.
- Ability to lift approximately fifty (50) lb of coin.
- Knowledge of bank consumer products and services, along with the operating polices and procedures that impact these products.
- Ability to recognize customer product and services needs; basic sales skills.
- Education and/or Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6-12 months related experience normally preferred (Retail sales, customer service and cash handling).
- Completion of the Principles of Banking course between the first and third year of employment.
