About the Role

Create a positive first impression for all patients, family members, and guests to the outpatient rehab department by providing excellent and efficient customer service. Serve as a representative of our facility to the public personally and over the telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct patients appropriately to the treating Therapist or Therapist Assistant.
  • Confirm patients have all necessary items for their service to avoid delays.
  • Maintain the wait screen to ensure patients are received in the appropriate order.
  • Maintain the appearance of the lobby and notify appropriate departments when an area needs attention.
  • Record patient information, copy insurance cards, and submit copies of face sheets to the HIM department and Business Office.
  • Answer telephone calls in a timely manner and ensure messages are distributed.
  • Obtain orders for evaluations and schedule patients for therapy.
  • Attain insurance authorization.
  • Administer therapy treatments to patients under the direction of and as an assistant to a Therapist and/or Therapist Assistant.
  • Supervise patients in their performance of active therapeutic exercises as directed by the Therapist and/or Therapist Assistant.
  • Administer heat, sound, and electrical modality treatments, such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and hot and cold packs.
  • Administer traction to relieve neck and back pain using intermittent and static traction equipment.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients to learn and improve functional activities, such as pre-ambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily-living activities.
  • Observe patients during treatments, compile and evaluate data on patients' responses and progress, and report orally to the Therapist.
  • Confer with members of the therapy staff and other health team members to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephones, taking messages, and filling out forms.
  • Measure vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or assist the Therapist in compiling data for patient evaluations.
  • Administer pre-employment post-offer testing to STHS employees under the direction and supervision of a Therapist.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with EPIC is a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time.
  • Lifting at least 10 pounds is required.
  • Constant (67%-100%): talking, hearing, seeing.
  • Frequently (34%-66%): carrying, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching.

Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
