Responsibilities
- Operate all store equipment.
- Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler.
- Prepare product, including shaping pizza dough and assembling orders.
- Receive and process telephone orders both over the phone and in person.
- Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
- Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.
- Handle monetary transactions, including making correct change.
- Use a computer keyboard or touch screen to enter orders.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Ability to comprehend and give correct written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and co-workers.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) for handling transactions and inventory.
- Motor coordination for rapid and precise movements, such as handling pizza dough and using equipment.
Work Conditions
- Exposure to varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when performing outside tasks (e.g., removing trash).
- In-store temperatures range from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F or higher in some work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
- Exposure to food odors, cornmeal dust, and cramped quarters (e.g., walk-in cooler).
- Hot surfaces and tools, including ovens up to 500°F or higher.
- Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring near and mid-range vision, depth perception, and the ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
- Must be able to handle repetitive tasks, work alone or with others, work under stress, and meet quality control standards.
Physical Requirements
- Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces. Work surfaces range from 36" to 48" in height.
- Walking: Short distances for short durations.
- Sitting: Paperwork is completed at a desk or table.
- Lifting: Deliveries include cases of ingredients and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, lifted from the floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
- Carrying: Large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz), pizza sauce (30 lbs), and trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray, carried three at a time).
- Pushing/Pulling: Trays on dollies require up to 7.5 pounds of force to move.
- Climbing: Infrequent use of stairs or ladders for tasks like changing prices, washing walls, or performing maintenance.
- Stooping/Bending: Forward bending at the waist is required at the pizza assembly station and front counter, repeated continuously throughout the day.
- Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally required for stocking shelves or cleaning low areas.
- Reaching: Continuous reaching up, down, and forward, including above 72" for tasks like adjusting oven controls or changing sign prices.
- Hand Tasks: Eye-hand coordination is essential. Frequent use of hands for shaping dough, using a pizza peel, assembling boxes, and handling tools like the pizza cutter. Requires forceful use of forearms and wrists.
Skills
- Verbal, writing, and telephone skills for processing orders.
- Ability to use computers, calculators, TDD equipment, and other store tools.
- Motor coordination for tasks requiring speed and precision.
