About the role
This position handles a range of clerical, billing, and customer service duties, including reviewing meter readings, preparing accounts for billing, answering customer inquiries, and resolving discrepancies.
Responsibilities
- Explain how bills are computed and resolve customer complaints related to sewer and/or water service.
- Collect data to correct errors and discrepancies on customer accounts.
- Schedule work orders to investigate and resolve account issues.
- Perform data entry and related data processing duties.
- Compute meter readings by reviewing reports to prepare accounts for residential, commercial, and specialized billings.
- Process billing for sheriff sales and bankruptcy, generating information needed for resolutions.
- Handle customer and title company inquiries for final/period-end billings.
- Prepare, post, research, and verify payments; resolve returned items; create and maintain financial reports; and perform daily, monthly, and annual reconciliations.
- Process delinquent notices and shut-off notices for water customers.
- Accept payments from customers for sewer and/or water charges.
- Maintain assigned correspondence, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Review water/sewer permits for completion and establish new accounts.
- Maintain inventory, prepare daily schedules, back up operations and secretary duties, prepare mail, balance and close registers, and gather/deliver correspondence.
- Maintain financial records of daily receipts.
- Issue sewer deduct applications.
- Communicate verbally or in writing as needed.
- Balance reports and postage accounts.
- Prepare and mail billings to customers and reimbursements to city officials for sewer monies collected.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license or state ID.
- One year of office experience or equivalent is preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay
Starting at $19.50 per hour.
