About the role
The Customer Development Manager (FMS) is responsible for the management of assigned accounts in the Business Unit; the education and development of customer interest in additional Ryder services — including Full Service Lease, Programmed Maintenance, Lease Financing, Fleet Management Services and Dedicated Contract Carriage — through the Ryder Sales Process. This role sits at the intersection of relationship management and consultative sales, with real earning potential tied directly to your performance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain regular, consistent contact with your customer base.
- Develop a sales penetration plan, segment accounts by growth opportunity and risk, and present Ryder services and capabilities.
- Build relationships with all customer buying influences and develop a complete understanding of each customer’s business, goals and objectives.
- Work with RIL to uncover opportunities for additional services and serve as the facilitator between the customer and Ryder departments or vendors.
- Ensure contracted services are delivered and that customers feel it.
- Develop productive working relationships, conduct regularly scheduled customer reviews, monitor CSI results by account and maintain awareness of competitive alternatives.
- Contribute to smooth account transitions when needed.
- Stay ahead of issues through continuous dialogue with customers and Ryder staff.
- Supply customers with timely operational performance information and invest in understanding their business deeply.
- Continuously improve your sales skills, industry knowledge and personal growth.

Requirements
- Sales experience required; any industry background considered.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and leverage it to identify customer needs and solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, holding yourself fully accountable.
- Highly organized, capable of multi-tasking with excellent time management and follow-up.
- Self-driven and flexible in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to mentor and develop newer sales employees.
- Ability to work across various geographic and demographic environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in Business, Marketing, Transportation or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) years or more demonstrated consecutive sales and customer relationship management experience in prior sales responsibilities required.

Pay
- Base pay: $60,000/year plus commission.
- First-year earning potential: $100,000 to $110,000 (base + commission combined).
Schedule
- Hybrid — a mix of office presence and customer field visits.
- Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
