About the role

As a Customer Development Chemist, you will support developing and maintaining products for Auto OEM customers.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional teams to support new color and product development, and technology cost and improvement projects.
  • Follow experimental procedures, produce reliable data, and contribute to the design of experiments.
  • Lead independent projects or portions of larger projects.
  • Utilize project management skills, process technology, knowledge of manufacturing, business, and internal/external resources with guidance from a team leader or senior chemist.
  • Demonstrate commitment to goals through words and actions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation.
  • Apply root cause analysis and BPI tools to support resolution of technical, manufacturing, and field issues.
  • Support formula optimization and raw material initiative projects.
  • Leverage knowledge of chemistry/coating technology to support manufacturing, business, cost optimization, and internal/external customers.
  • Seek new projects and tackle complex assignments without avoidance.
  • Describe action plans to appropriate parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Science Degree in Chemistry or related Engineering or Science field with 2 or more years of coating experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience using statistical tools for data analysis.
  • Experience in development of Primer and Basecoat (WB/SB), and Clear coat.
  • Flexibility to join meetings with Japan during nights/early mornings.
  • Flexibility to support unexpected trials, manufacturing issues, or line concerns during nights and weekends as needed.
  • Excellent knowledge of office packages; preferred basic knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $78,000 to $87,500, with the possibility of an annual bonus up to 4.5% of base salary.
