About the role

Join UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as a Customer Associate at our Family Care Center in Flossmoor. This is a 100% onsite position based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities

  • Check patients in and out, including greeting, entering accurate demographic and insurance information, updating records, collecting payments, issuing receipts, and notifying clinical staff.
  • Perform clerical duties such as scheduling, typing, completing forms, photocopying, faxing, sorting mail, filing, maintaining, and preparing medical charts.
  • Receive incoming calls, route them to the appropriate party, and take messages according to department protocol or customer needs.
  • Handle cash and other payments, reconcile balances at the end of each shift, and make bank deposits as requested.
  • File and retrieve medical records from storage areas according to department procedures and policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with basic computer software programs.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing others in areas of continuous process improvement and customer service.
  • Self-directed teamwork.
  • Moderate typing skills (minimum 30 words per minute).

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Insurance and collections experience.

Schedule

  • Part-Time, 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week).
  • Night shift, with hours worked between 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM.

Pay

The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected for the position, based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.
