About the role

The Town of Amherst seeks a Customer Assistant II to perform a full range of complex procedural accounting and clerical duties associated with computation, reconciliation and posting to accounts for Town collection areas (e.g., Water & Sewer, Parking).

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of complex procedural accounting and clerical duties associated with computation, reconciliation and posting to accounts for Town collection areas (e.g., Water & Sewer, Parking).
  • Handle financial transactions and ensure accuracy in computations and postings.
  • Manage and reconcile accounts, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to financial operations.
  • Provide customer service to residents regarding billing and payment inquiries.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • One to three (1-3) years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or cash handling.

Qualifications

  • Ability to handle financial transactions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Benefits

  • Annual salary range of \$26.06 - \$29.33 per hour depending on experience and/or qualifications.
