About the role
The Town of Amherst seeks a Customer Assistant II to perform a full range of complex procedural accounting and clerical duties associated with computation, reconciliation and posting to accounts for Town collection areas (e.g., Water & Sewer, Parking).
Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of complex procedural accounting and clerical duties associated with computation, reconciliation and posting to accounts for Town collection areas (e.g., Water & Sewer, Parking).
- Handle financial transactions and ensure accuracy in computations and postings.
- Manage and reconcile accounts, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation related to financial operations.
- Provide customer service to residents regarding billing and payment inquiries.
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent.
- One to three (1-3) years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or cash handling.
Qualifications
- Ability to handle financial transactions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software and systems.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and policies.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Benefits
- Annual salary range of \$26.06 - \$29.33 per hour depending on experience and/or qualifications.
