About the Role
The Custodian cleans and services residents’ rooms, community areas, and office areas under the direction of the Janitorial Program Supervisor, ensuring a safe and efficient environment.
Responsibilities
- Dry and wet mops hard floors (18% of time).
- Vacuums, spot cleans, or shampoos carpets when assigned (15% of time).
- Uses floor machines, automatic scrubbers, wall-washing equipment, and waste collecting equipment (15% of time).
- Collects and transports refuse; cleans and relines refuse containers with plastic bags (10% of time).
- Cleans sinks, tubs, showers, and toilets; polishes bright work and cleans mirrors; empties trash, sweeps, and mops floors with disinfectant cleaner; replaces paper and soap supplies (10% of time).
- Dusts, cleans, and polishes furniture, including beds, dressers, and lamps (10% of time).
- Cleans top of windows, door frames, and other high places (5% of time).
- Polishes stainless steel and other bright work; cleans glass (5% of time).
- Cleans venetian blinds and drapes (5% of time).
- Strips or scrubs and refinishes floors when assigned (7% of time).
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Six months of custodial experience preferred.
- Must be cleared according to Act 169 in required areas.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills.
- Must adhere to established company and program policies and procedures related to safety and infection control.
