About the role
Isaiah House is a faith-based and Christ-centered nonprofit organization. Employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and standards of conduct. The Custodian maintains clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for clients, employees, and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare assigned spaces by removing trash, dusting surfaces, arranging furniture, and completing routine floor care
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers, windows, mirrors, fixtures, and other surfaces
- Safely use, store, and maintain cleaning supplies, chemicals, and custodial equipment
- Identify and report damage, safety hazards, vandalism, maintenance needs, and supply shortages
- Assist with minor maintenance, snow removal, furniture moving, and event setup as needed
- Follow all Isaiah House policies, safety procedures, and required training
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or maintenance experience
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and safe disposal practices
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Ability to follow instructions and meet the physical demands of the position
- Professional conduct consistent with Isaiah House’s mission and values
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a healthcare, residential, treatment, or nonprofit setting
- Knowledge of workplace safety, infection control, or Safety Data Sheets
Physical Requirements
The ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs for extended periods
- Lifting and carrying custodial supplies, trash containers, furniture, and related items
- Safely operating cleaning equipment and working indoors or outdoors in varying conditions
- Working around cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and bodily fluids while using required protective equipment
Schedule and Work Environment
Schedule: Part-time, 15-20 hours per week. Work Environment: On-site. Travel Requirements: Rarely, if needed.
