PCN 716 Position Overview Under the direction of the Custodial Manager and/or his/her designee, the custodian will be responsible for custodial operations, including cleaning and maintenance of various buildings on the College’s campus. The custodian will work with the custodial staff to effectively meet the College's physical needs and support its overall mission, including working in different buildings as needed. Primary Responsibilities Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper products and soap dispensers. Collect and dispose of interior and exterior trash and recycling by transporting materials to designated campus dumpsters and compactors. Perform specialized cleaning services, including carpet extraction, window cleaning, floor care, and stain removal. Respond to facility emergencies, including water leaks, flooding, and other incidents requiring water restoration and cleanup. Transport custodial equipment, supplies, and restoration equipment between campus buildings as needed. Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies to ensure safe and efficient operation. Identify and report building maintenance issues observed while performing custodial duties to ensure timely repairs. Properly wear and utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, masks, and other protective equipment as required by the task being performed. Perform minor repairs to the facility like shutting off a valve to stop a leak or repairing a flooring issue that is a trip hazard. Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including custodial closets and storage areas, while ensuring compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements. Assist with snow and ice removal around building entrances, sidewalks, and other designated areas to maintain safe access during inclement weather. Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and dependability by maintaining regular attendance and fulfilling assigned work responsibilities. Assist with campus events by setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment, monitoring restrooms and trash receptacles, and ensuring event spaces remain clean, stocked, and presentable throughout the event. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional operations. Qualifications High school diploma is required. Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred Strong knowledge of custodial best practices, and operational efficiencies. Able to operate custodial equipment. Fluent in English language and able to communicate with others. Higher Education, or multi-building property management preferred. 3 years of experience in custodian/cleaning services is preferred A valid driver’s license is required.
