About the Role

This position is responsible for participating in and supervising routine cleaning of all areas of the building and policing of grounds.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the training of the custodial staff at assigned location.
• Oversees custodial work, maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
• Performs minor maintenance and replaces lights, tubes, ceiling tile, switch and outlet plates, and pencil sharpeners.
• Uses a power lift to perform some tasks up to 40 ft.
• Must get along well with others and deal effectively with principals, teachers, students, and visitors.
• Locks and unlocks doors.
• Checks the security of the building and grounds.
• Activates and deactivates the alarm system.
• Sweeps and wet and dry mops floors.
• Waxes floors and operates buffing machines.
• Vacuums and cares for carpeting.
• Washes windows and furniture.
• Cleans restrooms using appropriate equipment and supplies.
• Mops and buffs the cafeteria.
• Moves furniture, folds and unfolds chairs as required.
• Picks up paper and debris from school grounds.
• Checks heating and air conditioning for proper operation.
• Contacts Plant Services for after-hour emergencies.
• Raises and lowers flags.
• Delivers packages and messages.
• Makes minor repairs to equipment and furniture as needed.
• Loads and unloads delivery trucks.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Pay

Paid in accordance with hourly grade 16. Special consideration may be given commensurate with education, training, and experience.
