Custodian Lead

Purpose

The purpose of this position is to lead and perform a variety of custodial duties in and around County public buildings and grounds and assures work is completed within applicable safety standards. Position ensures all safety policies and procedures are followed.

Responsibilities

• Serves as lead to assigned crew by organizing and assigning work, setting priorities, and following up to ensure completion of work and compliance of work with standards;
• Provides on-the-job training to new employees and instructs staff on proper work procedures;
• Ensures compliance with departmental policies, procedures and safety regulations;
• Maintains knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper applications to ensure compliance with County Health Department safety regulations;
• Makes sure that minor repairs of lights, tables, faucets, drains and other equipment are done; completes required custodial reports and documentation;
• Handles special projects and assists with recycling activities as required;
• Assists with coordinating and maintaining custodial supply inventories;
• Performs tasks such as changing light bulbs, assembling furniture, assisting with painting and minor maintenance, and performing dish washing as needed;
• Performs other duties as assigned.
