Custodian II

Overview

Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an entry level opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II. This position will be working with a diverse and team-oriented group to maintain buildings in the St. Johnsbury area. Job responsibilities will be daily cleaning of the buildings and grounds work of the facilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of state-owned or leased buildings
• Addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials
• Outdoor work in all types of weather conditions
• Climbing ladders and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Overtime and evening work may be required

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and successful completion of a criminal background check
• Physical condition and ability to perform the above duties

Qualifications

• One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction
• OR One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I

Special Requirements

• Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations
• Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position

Schedule

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 6:00pm.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
