Custodian I - Ames National Laboratory
About the role
The Custodian I will perform general custodial duties including collecting recycled paper, dusting, cleaning, sweeping, mopping, emptying waste containers, checking and replacing restroom supplies, checking and replacing lights, stripping and refinishing floors, and cleaning floors with auto scrubber and auto burnisher.

Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50lbs. occasionally, and up to 25 lbs. frequently
- Frequent bending, squatting, and stooping
- Ability to attend required courses regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), wear and maintain PPE, and fully adhere to the requirements set forth in the Personal Protective Equipment Program
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Custodial experience
- Experience operating an auto scrubber (either ride-on or walk-behind)
- Experience operating an auto burnisher
- Experience shampooing carpets and using carpet extractors
- Experience stripping, waxing and refinishing floors
