About the Role

Custodial Services supports campus operations by maintaining clean, safe, and functional facilities across Missouri S&T. The department works in coordination with campus units to deliver daily custodial services, facility upkeep, and preparation of spaces for academic and operational use.

This position is part of a union bid process. To be considered, you must apply within the published five-business-day posting period (June 11, 2026 – June 18, 2026) and meet the minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine custodial work, including cleaning buildings (e.g., garages, offices, classrooms, entryways, and restrooms).
  • Clean floors (sweep, mop, wax), empty trash receptacles, dust furniture, clean windows, and perform other cleaning-related duties.
  • Sweep and shovel snow as needed.
  • Order cleaning supplies and request equipment repairs.
  • Work in areas requiring special disinfectants, cleaning techniques, or equipment (e.g., large sweepers, power washers).
  • Prepare rooms for meetings by setting up chairs, tables, and necessary equipment.
  • Perform building security duties, such as locking/unlocking doors, checking windows, turning lights on/off, and reporting needed repairs.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required for certain positions.
  • Daily ability to:
    • Lift, carry, and set down objects of moderate weight (25–50 lbs).
    • Grasp broom and mop handles.
    • Work around dust and cleaning materials.
    • Climb stairs, step stools, and ladders.
  • Physical strength, coordination, and stamina sufficient to perform assigned duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of general maintenance and custodial experience.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and buildings.
  • Mechanical ability for minor equipment repairs.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $15.50–$15.81 per hour. Salary is determined by education, skills, experience, and organizational requirements.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
