Custodian/Housekeeper

About the Role

This position is accountable for the cleanliness of the center common area, including the parking lot, common sidewalks, and service bays. Responsibilities also include emptying trash receptacles, tenant dumpsters, and operating a trash compactor.

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect and patrol the interior and exterior of the facility performing custodial duties such as sweeping sidewalks/floors, wet mopping, operating steam cleaners, hand vacuums, cleaning and restocking restrooms, gathering and emptying trash receptacles, and operating compactors.
• Operate a variety of janitorial equipment to maintain property cleanliness.
• Operate high-reach or lift equipment for debris removal and cleaning elevated surfaces.
• Assist other departments, including Marketing, with cleaning and patrolling during events.
• Establish procedures to ensure completion of scheduled cleaning for different facility areas.
• Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with management and co-workers.
• Perform duties in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA) to promote a safe working environment.
• Ensure proper inventory systems, records, files, cleaning supplies, equipment, and tools are maintained.
• Note and report damaged or missing property, missing trash containers, and other issues to a supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; Technical School certifications and/or training a plus.
• Ability to read, interpret documents, and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to effectively present information to management, employees, tenants, and outside contacts.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to define problems, collect information, and establish facts.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and multitask.
• Knowledge of safety rules, hazards, and accident prevention measures.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Schedule

Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
