Custodian/Housekeeper

About the role

This position is accountable for the cleanliness of the center common area, which includes but is not limited to, the parking lot, common sidewalks, and service bays. This position is also responsible for emptying trash receptacles, tenant dumpsters, and operating a trash compactor.

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect and patrol the interior and exterior of the facility performing custodial duties including sweeping sidewalks/floors, wet mopping sidewalks/floors, operating steam cleaners, hand vacuums, cleaning and restocking restrooms, gathering and emptying trash receptacles, operating compactors, and turning trash carts.
• Operate a variety of janitorial-related equipment to maintain cleanliness of the property.
• Operate high-reach or lift equipment to perform debris removal and cleaning of elevated surfaces.
• Assist other departments, including Marketing, to clean and patrol during events.
• Establish procedures to ensure completion of scheduled cleaning of different areas of the facility.
• Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with management and all co-workers.
• Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment.
• Ensure appropriate inventory systems, records, files, material safety data sheets, cleaning supplies, equipment, and tools are maintained.
• Note damaged or missing property, missing trash containers, and other problems, then notify supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; technical school certifications and/or training preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and comprehend instructions.
• Ability to effectively present information to departmental management, employees, tenants, and outside contacts.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to define problems, collect information, and establish facts.
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and multi-task.
• Knowledge of safety rules, hazards, and application of accident prevention measures.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $15.11 - $23.08. Actual compensation within that range will depend on various factors, including an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and the geographic location of the job.
