Custodian (Extra Help)

About the role

Perform general cleaning and custodial tasks for county facilities under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish furniture
• Clean windows, mirrors, and fixtures
• Disinfect restrooms and handle waste collection and disposal
• Restock supplies
• Move heavy furniture and climb ladders
• Operate cleaning equipment
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards

Requirements

• One year of custodial or building maintenance experience
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid California driver’s license

Skills & Knowledge

• Knowledge of janitorial methods, equipment, and safety hazards
• Proper handling of cleaning agents
• Ability to follow instructions and operate equipment efficiently
• Perform calculations accurately
• Maintain safety standards
• Effective communication and safety awareness
• Ability to establish working relationships

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and standing for extended periods
• Work mainly indoors with potential exposure to environmental hazards such as weather, fumes, and noise
