About the Role
The ideal candidate will be an experienced custodian focused on safety, cleanliness, and building maintenance. This role requires physical endurance to manage large spaces, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Take out trash and recycling, including moving hoppers/pallets with a forklift
- Keep common areas, walkways, and forklift paths in the shop swept and clear of debris
- Maintain outer premises, driveway, and parking areas
- Operate sit-down sweeper and forklift both inside and outside the facility
- Perform custodial and janitorial tasks, including lifting heavy items and moving office equipment
- Report damages and assist in overseeing repairs
- Assist with additional tasks as required by the manager
- Maintain and organize stock of janitorial supplies
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- Clear Texas Driver’s License
- Forklift Certification with a minimum of 1 year of experience
- Proven experience as a custodian, janitor, or in a similar role
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment (e.g., floor sweepers) and its maintenance
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components
- Strong attention to detail and conscientiousness
Work Conditions
- Regular workweek: Monday to Thursday (four days)
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Frequent exposure to noise
- Changing priorities may be assigned regularly
- Position requires walking, standing, stooping, and bending for extended periods
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times
Physical Demands
The physical demands described are representative of those required to perform the essential functions of this job:
- Constantly required to sit, use hands to operate a telephone, type, and use a computer and mouse
- Frequently required to talk, hear, bend, and twist the neck
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision
