Custodian

About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties as listed on the daily schedule.
• Handle Hazardous Waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Stop at-risk behavior of others and self.
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees.
• Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a clean work area.
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Take direction and respond to supervision.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
• Fill in during staff shortages.
• Support shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Use proper personal protective equipment.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
• Understand customer service and satisfaction.
• Understand reporting systems and environmental protocols.

Requirements

• No specific education requirement; 3-6 months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May be required to have a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete all safety and task training certification.
• May be required to be forklift certified.

Skills

• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment; willingness to share knowledge with the team.
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Pay

$16.00–$17.00 per hour

Schedule

Monday – Friday; 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
