Custodian

About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas, performing duties safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties as listed on the daily schedule.
• Handle Hazardous Waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; stop at-risk behavior of others and self.
• Perform work assignments in a team environment and support shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a clean work area.
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Take direction and respond to supervision professionally.
• Communicate with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner.
• Fill in during staff shortages.
• Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
• Understand customer service, satisfaction, reporting systems, and environmental protocols.

Requirements

• No specific education requirement; 3-6 months of training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• Completion of all safety and task training certifications.
• May require forklift certification.

Skills

• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with the team.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to sit, talk, or listen.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Schedule

Monday–Friday: 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM

Pay

$14.25–$15.25 per hour
