About the role
The Custodian position performs routine custodial work in the care and cleaning of County buildings and may also perform semi-skilled custodial tasks and heavy manual labor as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine custodial work in the care and cleaning of County buildings
- May perform semi-skilled custodial tasks and heavy manual labor as needed
- Help maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of County facilities through a variety of custodial duties
- Deliver exceptional customer service
Requirements
- 8th Grade Education and 0-12 months of experience performing routine custodial tasks in a commercial setting
- Expert knowledge of/experience with floor maintenance techniques, to include equipment used in the process (such as floor scrubbers and buffers as well as extraction machines)
- Practical experience using a chemical dispensing system
- Expert knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Qualifications
- Must pass a pre-employment physical exam
- Valid driver’s license
Special Requirements
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and accommodate shift changes
- Willingness to work in different locations throughout the County
- Willingness to work in the event of County closings due to inclement weather and emergency situations
Pay
Starting Salary Range: $17.99 to $28.11
Schedule
Typical work hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and/or 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Employees are scheduled to work five days per week, with shifts that may occur any day of the week, including weekends, based on operational needs.
