Custodian

About the role

Ebenezer is looking for a Custodian to perform deep cleaning of carpeted surfaces, stripping, waxing, and burnishing of hard floor surfaces, as well as general cleaning duties within our senior living and skilled nursing community in Bloomington, MN.

This position includes an evening shift with 80 hours per 2 weeks and no weekends. Martin Luther Care Center, part of the Martin Luther Senior Living Campus, is located in East Bloomington near woodlands/wetlands and along the Minnesota River Bluffs. The campus offers 137 units across Skilled Nursing, Memory Care, and Transitional Care and has been named a Top Nursing Home and Transitional Care Center by US News and World Reports for the past two years.

Responsibilities

• Carpet sweeping, floor sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing
• Carpet extraction
• Stripping, waxing, and burnishing of hard floor surfaces
• Assists housekeeping and laundry staff as needed
• Assists with moving boxes, furniture, etc.
• Empties and removes trash and recycling
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Able to read/understand instructions for safety sheets and information on chemicals, infection control practices, and body mechanics
• Ability to perform relevant floor care procedures
• Experience with mechanical equipment

Qualifications

• One year of previous experience in a similar environment preferred
• Experience in floor care, custodial, and/or cleaning work preferred
• High school diploma/GED preferred
