About the Role

Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Qualifications

No specific education or certification required.

• Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment
• Ability to properly handle cleaning supplies

Responsibilities

• Maintain a cleaning schedule, including floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms
• Keep school buildings and grounds neat and clean, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas
• Comply with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash
• Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Assist with lunchroom set up, including arranging tables and chairs
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure comfort, health, and safety of students and staff
• Make minor building repairs and report major repair needs to the principal
• Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for appropriate temperatures and economical usage
• Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed
• Assist in setting up facilities for special events
• Assist with opening and closing buildings, checking exit doors and panic bolts
• Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities
• Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency
• Correct unsafe conditions and report uncorrectable conditions to the supervisor
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures

Pay

$14.00 - $18.00 per hour (based on experience)

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting
• Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders, grasping, squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching, and overhead reaching
• Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
• Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven surfaces
• Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals, and irregular hours
