Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age
• Solid work history and trainable
• High school diploma or GED
• Maintains good hygiene with neat and clean appearance
• Good attendance record
• Ability to work collaboratively with integrity in a diverse environment with people of all ages, including students
• Ability to accept work direction
• Ability to work alone or as a team with minimal supervision
• Ability to communicate and follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to perform light maintenance
• Demonstrated positive attitude, cooperative work ethic, and willingness to accept instructions and training
• Satisfactory past performance record indicating knowledge of district maintenance methods and procedures
• Basic working knowledge of personal computers and office machinery
• Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash, recycle bins, pencil sharpeners, and cleans chalkboards/whiteboards
• Washes walls, doors, woodwork, windows/glass, and cleans/polishes metal surfaces
• Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, sealing, extracting, and stripping
• Cleans, sanitizes, and deodorizes restrooms, locker rooms, health service areas, and drinking fountains
• Hauls and removes trash/recycling
• Removes/reports acts of graffiti and vandalism
• Performs minor repair maintenance
• Operates heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical, and mechanical systems (limited to turning equipment on/off and/or setting day/night cycles)
• Takes necessary action to prevent emergencies by repairing or reporting broken windows, doors, locks, and unsafe conditions
• Assists in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete, blacktop surfaces, and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways, snow, and ice removal
• Assists with setups, teardowns, and cleanups for school activities such as sporting events, concerts, and other meetings or special events
• Operates security systems and secures the building at the conclusion of shift, ensuring all windows and doors are locked
• Treats all building users in a polite and courteous manner
• Moves furniture and other heavy objects, requiring lifting and carrying
• Assists with putting away deliveries
• Estimates needs and requisitions supplies and equipment
• Maintains safe maintenance practices and adheres to safety requirements
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a background check and physical
• Good physical health, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing, and walking
• Repetitive motion with wrists, hands, and fingers
• Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, and stooping
• Occasional climbing and crawling
• Ability to stand for long periods, as well as stoop, squat, lift, carry, push, and climb
• No issues working with cleaning chemicals or in dusty environments
