Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Solid work history and trainable
- High school diploma or GED
- Maintains good hygiene with neat and clean appearance
- Good attendance record
- Ability to work collaboratively with integrity in a diverse environment with people of all ages, including students
- Ability to accept work direction
- Ability to work alone or as a team with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate and follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform light maintenance
- Demonstrated positive attitude, cooperative work ethic, and willingness to accept instructions and training
- Satisfactory past performance record indicating knowledge of district maintenance methods and procedures
- Basic working knowledge of personal computers and office machinery
- Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance
Responsibilities
- Sweeps, dusts, arranges furniture, empties trash, recycle bins, pencil sharpeners, and cleans chalkboards/whiteboards
- Washes walls, doors, woodwork, windows/glass, and cleans/polishes metal surfaces
- Cleans and maintains hard and soft surface floors, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, sealing, extracting, and stripping
- Cleans, sanitizes, and deodorizes restrooms, locker rooms, health service areas, and drinking fountains
- Hauls and removes trash/recycling
- Removes/reports acts of graffiti and vandalism
- Performs minor repair maintenance
- Operates heating, A/C, ventilation, electrical, and mechanical systems (limited to turning equipment on/off and/or setting day/night cycles)
- Takes necessary action to prevent emergencies by repairing or reporting broken windows, doors, locks, and unsafe conditions
- Assists in the maintenance of lawns, landscaping, concrete, blacktop surfaces, and playgrounds, including pedestrian walkways, snow, and ice removal
- Assists with setups, teardowns, and cleanups for school activities such as sporting events, concerts, and other meetings or special events
- Operates security systems and secures the building at the conclusion of shift, ensuring all windows and doors are locked
- Treats all building users in a polite and courteous manner
- Moves furniture and other heavy objects, requiring lifting and carrying
- Assists with putting away deliveries
- Estimates needs and requisitions supplies and equipment
- Maintains safe maintenance practices and adheres to safety requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Ability to pass a background check and physical
- Good physical health, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, standing, and walking
- Repetitive motion with wrists, hands, and fingers
- Frequent bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, and stooping
- Occasional climbing and crawling
- Ability to stand for long periods, as well as stoop, squat, lift, carry, push, and climb
- No issues working with cleaning chemicals or in dusty environments
