Custodian

About the role

The Indianapolis Zoo is seeking a Full-Time Custodian to join their team. The ideal candidate will assist with event setups, snow and trash removal, and daily restroom cleaning, all while upholding high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with non-catered event setups and seasonal events like CATZ, Zoo Boo, and Zoobilation.
• Assist with snow and trash removal throughout Zoo grounds.
• Clean and vacuum event spaces to maintain cleanliness standards.
• Ensure daily stocking and cleanliness of restrooms, outdoor food service areas, pathways, landscaping, benches, trashcans, and both carpeted and tiled areas.
• Follow all Zoo sanitation, chemical handling, and safety standards.
• Keep all equipment in good working order.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background in janitorial/custodial/housekeeping preferred.
• At least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
• Able to pass a background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.
• Ability to move items up to 10 pounds and position items up to 20 pounds.

Qualifications

• Cooperative and team-oriented personality.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Full-time, 40 hours per week position with availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime.
