Custodian

About the Role

Under supervision, custodians perform work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, which may entail supervision, in the cleaning, operation, and maintenance of one or more small buildings and their immediate grounds, and in the enforcement of safety requirements in such assigned areas. In a medium-sized building, custodians supervise cleaners on an assigned shift.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a small number of cleaners performing tasks such as sweeping, dusting, mopping, polishing, waxing, gathering and disposing of refuse.
• Cleans and removes snow from walks; maintains lawns and shrubs.
• Operates a low-pressure heating system and cleans boiler parts in buildings where no subordinate staff is assigned.
• Inspects the building and grounds to note general condition and necessity for repairs.
• Checks work performance, ensures proper use, cleanliness, and storage of tools.

Requirements

• Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
• For Assignment Level II: Three years of satisfactory experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
• For Assignment Level III and IV: Four years of satisfactory experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings.

Preferred Skills

• Great communication skills.
• Experience operating cleaning equipment.
• Leadership skills.

Pay

$39,848.00 – $45,028.00
