About the role

The Custodian position at Old Worthington Library provides support for the safety, security, maintenance, and cleaning of library buildings and grounds under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and refills dispensers
• Completes general maintenance of floors, walls, windows and blinds, carpets and furniture
• Empties and cleans trash receptacles
• Prepares rooms for meetings according to meeting room set-up requests
• Responds to Facilities Help Desk tickets and emails
• Affords assistance with the safety and security of buildings and grounds
• Maintains outside walkways, including sweeping debris and snow removal
• Collects and delivers materials and supplies between library locations, as needed
• Moves furniture, equipment, supplies and tools, as needed
• Performs minor repairs, as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or GEDA minimum of one (1) year of paid work experience
• Valid driver’s license and a vehicle registered with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and insured as required by Ohio Mandatory Insurance Laws
• Ability to move up to fifty (50) pounds, daily
• Ability to stand for extended periods, daily
• Ability to travel by automobile occasionally
• Ability to perform repeated reaching, bending, climbing and squatting, daily

• Knowledge of security, buildings, grounds and equipment maintenance requirements

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records
• Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
• Ability to retain and follow library policies and procedures
