About the Role
To assist in the maintenance of Agency facilities through the efficient and effective application of custodial maintenance procedures, in accordance with the desired Agency image. To ensure efficient and cost-effective operations and stewardship of the GGC and security of corporate assets.
Under the direct supervision of GGC TLC, this role is responsible for assisting in the custodial maintenance of the facility to maintain a neat and clean appearance.
Responsibilities
- Maintain facilities in a neat and clean appearance.
- Ensure and provide open and honest communication that encourages all team members to prioritize safety for themselves, donors, and customers.
- Communicate and support Goodwill’s drug-free workplace, striving for and maintaining a positive work environment following Goodwill’s Core Values and Guiding Principles.
- Uphold Goodwill’s zero tolerance for harassment, substance abuse, workplace violence, failure to report medical incidents (work or non-work related), and theft or other related offenses.
- Complete custodial maintenance activities in a timely manner and in accordance with the housekeeping checklist, including:
- Vacuum carpets, sweep, and mop floors.
- Sweep sidewalks and empty trash containers, replacing liners.
- Pick up trash on GGC grounds.
- Dust fixtures, doorjambs, doors, tables, and office furniture.
- Clean and wash dressing room and restroom mirrors.
- Sanitize restroom toilets and sinks.
- Replenish restroom paper supplies and soap dispensers.
- Clean and wash GGC doors and windows.
- Maintain the break room in a clean and sanitary manner (e.g., tables, refrigerator, floor, cups, coffee makers).
- Train and supervise trainees on the performance of custodial duties.
- Perform custodial maintenance work using sound safety practices (e.g., lifting, use of equipment, floor signs) and report accidents to the Team Leader in a timely manner, in accordance with Agency safety procedures.
- Operate custodial equipment for cleaning floors and carpets.
- Perform daily routine maintenance checks on equipment and report damaged or non-working equipment to the Team Leader promptly.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting team and location needs, including additional sales floor tasks as assigned.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and engaging with customers within 10 seconds, maintaining a friendly and positive attitude.
- Communicate effectively by actively listening and clearly conveying points.
- Maintain a "can-do" attitude, high integrity, and report concerns to Leadership immediately.
- Present a neat, welcoming appearance and disposition.
- Attend in-service and related training as assigned by the Team Leader.
- Participate in activities outside of Goodwill as requested.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Team Leader.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
- Knowledge of custodial floor and carpet cleaning techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with custodial equipment and supplies, including associated hazards.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Team Leaders, Team Members, Customers, and Clients.
- Ability to supervise and train others.
- Ability to read cleaning supply directions and chemical mixtures.
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
Special Requirements
- Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, bend, and reach.
- Able to lift, push, pull, carry, or otherwise move up to twenty-five (25) pounds regularly without support.
- For weights over twenty-five (25) pounds, request assistance from a team member.
- Able to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
- Manual dexterity is required.
