Full Job Description: Custodial Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of the custodial team across campus facilities
  • Assign tasks, organize schedules, and monitor performance to ensure high-quality cleaning standards
  • Train staff on safe and efficient use of equipment floor buffers, scrubbers, steam cleaners, etc.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify areas needing attention, and handle special-event setups or custodial needs
  • Manage custodial supplies and maintenance needs, coordinating with Facilities or vendors as needed
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and proper chemical handling protocols
  • Step in to perform hands-on custodial work as needed
  • Oversee all phases of the employee lifecycle, including hiring, staffing changes, performance management, discipline, and grievance resolution, in compliance with policies and legal standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma
  • Four (4) years of experience performing custodial or janitorial work involving the cleaning of facilities
  • One (1) year working in a lead or supervisory capacity in any facilities, operations, or building services environment
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of APPA cleaning techniques and custodial operations
  • Experience using inventory control programs, systems and methods
