Custodial Supervisor

About the Role

The Custodial Supervisor assists the Project Manager and Quality Control Manager in overseeing personnel performing custodial services. This position ensures compliance with safety and health rules, company policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities directly related to providing janitorial services
• Applies quality oversight principles to problems of service delivery by staff, under direction and in compliance with contract specifications
• Assists with training and supervising the performance of assigned staff
• Ensures substitute coverage as necessary
• Assists with schedules and prioritizes services effectively
• Complies with the terms and procedures as written in the CBA
• Coordinates the requisitioning and purchasing of janitorial supplies and equipment
• Controls and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established limitations and purchasing rules
• Develops contract specifications and scope of work
• Institutes a culture of safety and compliance
• Ensures compliance with applicable health and safety standards
• Trains employees in safety procedures
• Performs incidental tasks related to the position and other duties to support team objectives while maintaining a positive attitude

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience in large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, building maintenance, or custodial work; experience demonstrating increased responsibility
• Minimum of 5 years' custodial experience with strong supervisory skills preferred
• Management experience may be considered in lieu of large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, building maintenance, or custodial work
• Ability to pass a background and drug screening
• Knowledge of stripping, waxing, and shampooing carpets
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
• Government contracting experience preferred

Work Environment

The majority of work is performed in an office setting with a variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.

Physical Demands

• Lifting & Carrying: Generally sedentary work requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must maintain constant mental alertness.
• Mobility: Need to move around to attend meetings, access shared resources, and collaborate with team members.
• Occupational Health & Safety: Adherence to safety guidelines and reporting of safety concerns is expected.
