About the role

Seattle Central College is looking to hire a Custodial Services Supervisor in the Facilities department. The salary range for this position is $56,916.00 to $74,688.00 annually. This is a full-time, non-permanent position, not to exceed 18 months, with the possibility to transition into regular/permanent status, working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, primarily 8am to 4:30pm. The position works 100% of the time on-site and is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by WFSE.

Responsibilities

As the Custodial Services Supervisor, you will lead the people and operations that keep Seattle Central College safe, clean, functional, and welcoming. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading daily facilities operations by planning, scheduling, and assigning custodial, grounds, and routine maintenance work across all shifts, adjusting priorities to meet changing campus needs.
  • Guiding and developing employees through onboarding, training, technical direction, regular feedback, and clear expectations that support employee growth, accountability, and high-quality service.
  • Maintaining safe and reliable facilities by inspecting buildings and grounds, identifying service and preventive maintenance needs, and helping ensure work meets applicable safety and environmental requirements.
  • Working alongside the team by providing hands-on assistance with skilled maintenance and supporting preventive maintenance of custodial equipment when needed.
  • Coordinating preventive maintenance and work orders by overseeing inspections, troubleshooting, scheduling, recordkeeping, and timely completion of assigned work.
  • Managing essential resources by evaluating and ordering supplies, equipment, materials, and services needed for custodial, grounds, waste, recycling, and routine maintenance operations.
  • Supporting responsible use of college resources by contributing to budget development, monitoring expenditures, estimating project costs, and identifying cost-effective approaches and technologies.
  • Building effective partnerships with campus departments, contractors, Purchasing, project teams, and outside agencies to support safe, efficient, and coordinated facilities operations.
  • Improving programs and procedures by reviewing operational data, evaluating work methods, maintaining required records, and recommending updates that strengthen service delivery.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Four (4) or more years of progressively responsible experience in custodial services, grounds care, building maintenance, physical plant operations, or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or lead experience directing custodial, grounds, or maintenance staff, including sufficient working knowledge to supervise and perform skilled maintenance work as needed.
  • Possession of a valid Washington driver’s license at time of hire and throughout employment.

Qualifications

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment
  • Ability to exchange information with supervisor, lead, co-workers, and students
  • Physical ability to perform required work, including (but not limited to) the ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and to walk, bend, twist, stoop, squat, kneel, climb, reach, grasp, push and pull on a regular to continuous basis
  • Work is performed throughout the campus in a variety of weather conditions and encounters noises typical of these settings

Pay

The salary range for this position is $56,916.00 to $74,688.00 annually.
