Custodial Services Supervisor I

About the role

The Custodial Services department within USD Facilities Management is seeking a Custodial Supervisor I. This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of approximately 30 custodial personnel to maintain and provide quality custodial services for campus facilities in Vermillion, SD. The role ensures the presentation and cleanliness of academic buildings and involves close interaction with staff, customers, students, and faculty. As part of a team, this person is responsible for the well-planned, timely, and safe delivery of custodial services.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of approximately 30 custodial personnel
  • Maintain and provide quality custodial services for campus facilities
  • Ensure the presentation and cleanliness of academic buildings
  • Interact closely with staff, customers, students, and faculty
  • Plan, deliver, and ensure the safe execution of custodial services

Preferred Qualifications

  • One to three years of supervisory experience that includes direct supervision of staff
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, equipment, chemicals, and materials common to the custodial profession
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate the work of staff in a fair and planned manner
  • Ability to deal with personnel matters and conflict resolution

Work Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 5:00 am – 1:30 pm
  • Position requires weekends and holidays
  • Valid driver’s license required

Pay

$19.00 – $21.05 per hour
