Position Overview

This position provides oversight of a midsized team of custodial employees across multiple university locations. Responsibilities include inventory management, equipment maintenance, scheduling, training, and daily operations. The incumbent inspects buildings for cleanliness, safety, and security, serves as a Campus Security Authority for Clery, and acts as a Responsible Employee under Title IX.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three years of related experience with lead or supervisory responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Ability to maintain security and integrity of critical organizational infrastructure.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Accurately keep records and complete forms.
• Direct and manage the work of others.
• Apply mathematical concepts (e.g., measuring).
• Physical ability to stand, stoop, operate equipment, and lift.
• Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to the work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supervising numerous employees.
• Knowledge of cleaning schedules, chemicals, and building‑cleaning equipment.
• Familiarity with floor care techniques.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) or ability to learn required software.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

• Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) and ability to drive a University vehicle under the University liability insurance policy, if required.

Job Duties

• Provide direct supervision of day‑to‑day custodial operations.
• Assist with training new staff members.
• Inspect assigned facilities to ensure cleaning standards are met.
• Ensure equipment is functional, maintained, cleaned after use, and stored correctly.
• Identify and complete project work such as carpet cleaning, hard‑floor surface cleaning, and deep cleaning of restrooms.
• Maintain custodial supplies, keeping closets organized and shelves stocked.
• Complete duties in a timely manner without constant supervision and follow through on commitments.

• Maintain a safe and secure work environment and demonstrate punctuality and adherence to attendance policies.

Physical Requirements

• Communicating with others to exchange information.
• Ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
• Lifting and moving objects up to 20 lb.
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or traveling between work sites.
• Operating machinery, power tools, motor vehicles, or heavy equipment.
• Repeating motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, noisy environments, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

Work Schedule

• Sunday – Thursday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Driving a University vehicle as needed
